Smile By Haboon Kingsley School 6C

SMILE

Can you tell me what the chapter is about?
The chapter is about a shy girl called Raina and she needs braces which she hates about because she has an over bite (when your bite gets over your bottom teeth). Unfortunately, she decided on a late night to have a race and had a nasty accident on her teeth. Her two front teeth were gone!

What was your favourite part and character?
My favourite part was when she finally gets to smile and gets confident for herself and my character was Raina because she had her front teeth gone and she still had the confidence to smile and get on to her school work.
Would you recommend it to people and why?
I would recommend it to people because it is a very understandable book for people that are very self-conscious about there-self. It will help people that are not very open.

Hoarders! By Fatima Sharif Kingsley School 6M

Hoarders!

This unusual story is about two brothers (Langley and Homer Collyer) who once lived in a wealthy family but their parents sadly died and the two brothers were left to take care of themselves. After their parents died, they started doing very peculiar things- collecting junk and stuffing it into their beautiful homes, which now turned into a dump. A few years later, Homer died and the news had been found out by the man then straight away, the police were called so that they could go in the house in search of the dead body. Once the man called the police, the police came to the dump as soon as possible but when the police tried to open the door, it wouldn’t open because Langley was an engineer and he locked all the doors with a strong padlocks that wouldn’t break. When the police had finally found the dead body, they also had a big search for Langley and searched the whole state but they could not find him anywhere. Then, one person suggested one more look in the Collyer’s house and surprisingly, they found Langley’s body, just three metres away from Homer’s body. Then a park was made to remember the Collyers and what they had done in the past.
My favourite character is Langley because I liked the way he cared for his brother- Homer- When he was blind by feeding him several oranges every week to help him get his eyesight back. I also like Langley since is very protective because he wanted to protect his brother and himself from danger by locking the doors with strong padlocks so that nobody would come inside. Langley is also intelligent because when Homer was blind, Langley used his father’s medical supplies to heal Homer.

Away in Rubbish By Asadullah Pathan Kingsley School 6M

Away in Rubbish
Marketers want consumers to believe that bottled water is healthier water, but is really just water. Using examples from the text, write a persuasive essay to convince a person who buys bottled water to stop that wasteful practise.
This book explains a tragedy which occurs when pedestrians are careless about their rubbish meaning an unfortunate problem is floating away in the waters of a variety of unique oceans. Furthermore, this text shows why disposing litter in the wrong container can result in a chance of pollution but if it is correct the rubbish will be distinguished therefore, animals in the ocean can survive longer periods of time. Litter can also be sent to landfills-which buries it in the ground.
The Great Pacific Garbage pack situated in the pacific showcases large mass of unwanted litter stranded on the coast of a beach. For this action, it has been quoted that patch covers 530,000 square miles making this twice as big as the State of Texas. This book also states that practising recycling can be done at many places: school and home. Although this patch is commonly hated, a good cause is buried deep within its primeval; education. The education found for this event are normally based on oceanic currents and Gyres which can teach children about natural events.
To conclude, only one solution remains and that is to stop throwing litter and begin recycling so a brighter future has a better chance of occurring.

Greatest Book You'll Ever Read: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix By Sawdah Chowdhury Kingsley Community School Year 6M

Book Review: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is about a boy called Harry Potter; he just found out that there is a secret Order (which means a group) that is trying to protect him from his arch enemy and the most evil wizard who ever lived – Lord Voldemort. At the end of the story, his fugitive godfather- who is being accused of being a mass murderer- Sirius Black, dies whilst trying to save Harry and his friends. They all thought Sirius was being tortured to death by Voldemort. Sirius was saving them along with the rest of the Order of the Phoenix.

My favourite character was Harry because he was heroic as he went to save Sirius even though he knew Voldemort could do anything; everyone was terrified of Voldemort so much that they even feared saying his name, as though it was a jinx, but Harry was hardly scared of anything. Also, he was reluctant to let his friends go with him as it was extremely dangerous and he did not want them to suffer because of him. In the end, when his friends got injured, he sacrificed the prophecy that connected him with Voldemort, which was very vital for him to hear and very important to make sure Voldemort didn’t get his hands on, just to get them all out of trouble.

My favourite part of the brilliant book was when Dumbledore, Harry’s school’s-Hogwarts- headmaster and the only person Voldemort was afraid of, and Harry were in a room fighting Voldemort himself because there was so much suspense and anyone could die at any moment. It was a really exciting part because they did so many unforgivable curses and killing spells and also because nobody believed that Voldemort had returned except for Harry and Dumbledore and now, everyone saw Voldemort with their own eyes.

In conclusion, I loved this book more than anything I’ve ever read and all people who like adventure and magic, and who aren’t scared of things like this, would absolutely LOVE this book.
