Wonder By James Kingsley School 6C

Wonder
Author: R.J. Palacio

The book was about a boy named August he has had many operations on his face. There were 3 people who showed him around his new school (Jack Will, Julian and Delia). Julian mocked him because of his face. Augie thought that jack will was his friend but he was being horrible behind his back.

Augie was my favourite character because even though people were being mean to him he still went to school.

My favourite part of the book was when Jack will and Augie became friends again.

I did like the book and people who read this book will find it interesting.

Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief By Usman Kingsley School 6C

Percy Jackson and the lightning thief.
Author: RICK RIORDAN
The story of lightning thief is about a boy called Percy and he is the son of Poseidon (Greek God).He was a normal kid going to school, until accidentally he vaporized his maths teacher .Now he is in a half –blood school to train to fight the six head monster.
My favourite character is Percy because he is courage’s and very adventures. He is also very brave because he has protected himself from some dangerous evil monsters and his friend Anbbeth.
My favourite part of the was when Percy went to the half -blood school to train to fight with Grover-who is actually half goat and half human. This is my favourite part of the story because if he did not go to the half-school, he will be destroyed.

The Lost Hero By Muhammead Kingsley School 6M

The Lost Hero.
The book is another one of Rick Riodan’s amazing books. This book shows us a new main character (Jason Grace some of Jupiter or Zeus, lord of the sky). Many of Rick’s fans would have expected a new story line but the World Best-selling author has surprised us all with another death-for-Olympus situation. In the beginning, Jason finds himself in his second demi-god camp with absolutely no memory to recall his past. He then departs on a quest that would probably get him killed but little does he know what awaits him lurking in the darkness.
My favourite part of the book was when Jason was hung upside down ready to be eaten by three giants that thought it would it a good idea to eat a demi-god with salsa. This was my favourite part as when they were nearing to eat him Leo (son of Hephateus) charged in and blew the giants into smoking dust. Another one of my favourite parts of the book was when Aeolus (the lord of the wind) was begging Zeus to give him a promotion. This was one of my favourite parts of the book as it was hilarious.
My favourite character of the book is Coach Hedge. This is because when Jason arrives at the wilderness camp hedge calls him another one. When Jason enquires what he means he is forced to do push-ups. Plus every time he is in battle he shouts die for no apparent reason. He is my favourite character of the book as even though he can be stern he can be funny.
I would recommend this book to any myth lovers who love Romans against Greeks.

Smile By Haboon Kingsley School 6C

SMILE

Can you tell me what the chapter is about?
The chapter is about a shy girl called Raina and she needs braces which she hates about because she has an over bite (when your bite gets over your bottom teeth). Unfortunately, she decided on a late night to have a race and had a nasty accident on her teeth. Her two front teeth were gone!

What was your favourite part and character?
My favourite part was when she finally gets to smile and gets confident for herself and my character was Raina because she had her front teeth gone and she still had the confidence to smile and get on to her school work.
Would you recommend it to people and why?
I would recommend it to people because it is a very understandable book for people that are very self-conscious about there-self. It will help people that are not very open.

Hoarders! By Fatima Sharif Kingsley School 6M

Hoarders!

This unusual story is about two brothers (Langley and Homer Collyer) who once lived in a wealthy family but their parents sadly died and the two brothers were left to take care of themselves. After their parents died, they started doing very peculiar things- collecting junk and stuffing it into their beautiful homes, which now turned into a dump. A few years later, Homer died and the news had been found out by the man then straight away, the police were called so that they could go in the house in search of the dead body. Once the man called the police, the police came to the dump as soon as possible but when the police tried to open the door, it wouldn’t open because Langley was an engineer and he locked all the doors with a strong padlocks that wouldn’t break. When the police had finally found the dead body, they also had a big search for Langley and searched the whole state but they could not find him anywhere. Then, one person suggested one more look in the Collyer’s house and surprisingly, they found Langley’s body, just three metres away from Homer’s body. Then a park was made to remember the Collyers and what they had done in the past.
My favourite character is Langley because I liked the way he cared for his brother- Homer- When he was blind by feeding him several oranges every week to help him get his eyesight back. I also like Langley since is very protective because he wanted to protect his brother and himself from danger by locking the doors with strong padlocks so that nobody would come inside. Langley is also intelligent because when Homer was blind, Langley used his father’s medical supplies to heal Homer.

Away in Rubbish By Asadullah Pathan Kingsley School 6M

Away in Rubbish
Marketers want consumers to believe that bottled water is healthier water, but is really just water. Using examples from the text, write a persuasive essay to convince a person who buys bottled water to stop that wasteful practise.
This book explains a tragedy which occurs when pedestrians are careless about their rubbish meaning an unfortunate problem is floating away in the waters of a variety of unique oceans. Furthermore, this text shows why disposing litter in the wrong container can result in a chance of pollution but if it is correct the rubbish will be distinguished therefore, animals in the ocean can survive longer periods of time. Litter can also be sent to landfills-which buries it in the ground.
The Great Pacific Garbage pack situated in the pacific showcases large mass of unwanted litter stranded on the coast of a beach. For this action, it has been quoted that patch covers 530,000 square miles making this twice as big as the State of Texas. This book also states that practising recycling can be done at many places: school and home. Although this patch is commonly hated, a good cause is buried deep within its primeval; education. The education found for this event are normally based on oceanic currents and Gyres which can teach children about natural events.
To conclude, only one solution remains and that is to stop throwing litter and begin recycling so a brighter future has a better chance of occurring.

Greatest Book You'll Ever Read: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix By Sawdah Chowdhury Kingsley Community School Year 6M

Book Review: Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is about a boy called Harry Potter; he just found out that there is a secret Order (which means a group) that is trying to protect him from his arch enemy and the most evil wizard who ever lived – Lord Voldemort. At the end of the story, his fugitive godfather- who is being accused of being a mass murderer- Sirius Black, dies whilst trying to save Harry and his friends. They all thought Sirius was being tortured to death by Voldemort. Sirius was saving them along with the rest of the Order of the Phoenix.

My favourite character was Harry because he was heroic as he went to save Sirius even though he knew Voldemort could do anything; everyone was terrified of Voldemort so much that they even feared saying his name, as though it was a jinx, but Harry was hardly scared of anything. Also, he was reluctant to let his friends go with him as it was extremely dangerous and he did not want them to suffer because of him. In the end, when his friends got injured, he sacrificed the prophecy that connected him with Voldemort, which was very vital for him to hear and very important to make sure Voldemort didn’t get his hands on, just to get them all out of trouble.

My favourite part of the brilliant book was when Dumbledore, Harry’s school’s-Hogwarts- headmaster and the only person Voldemort was afraid of, and Harry were in a room fighting Voldemort himself because there was so much suspense and anyone could die at any moment. It was a really exciting part because they did so many unforgivable curses and killing spells and also because nobody believed that Voldemort had returned except for Harry and Dumbledore and now, everyone saw Voldemort with their own eyes.

In conclusion, I loved this book more than anything I’ve ever read and all people who like adventure and magic, and who aren’t scared of things like this, would absolutely LOVE this book.

The lost, abandoned, girl…

Lethargic, exhausted, hungry – will she ever return
back to her ‘parents?’ It had been 3 months since her fight with her dad and her mum. Her parents abandoned her by saying, “We will get you a present honey, we will be right back!” They had sadly not returned. It had been 3 months since she hadn’t seen ‘life’. She tried to forget all the negative thoughts in her mind and now thought to be ravenous. To obtain her food, she had to ascend up a tree and grab a bunch of creatures: Spiders, Butterflies and Ants. After her catch, the girl ate the critters; the bugs were eaten by the girl.

Day by day, boredom became worse and worse. Today was a normal day for the girl; she continued her normal schedule. CRACK! Quickly, she stood tall, turned around and could smell burning. She knew at that point, life was never going to be the same again…

holi diary Abbas

HOLI

Dear diary,

Yesterday was the most exciting day ever! I finally got to go to Holi again. The day before [21st of march 2018] I woke up with the most biggest smile on my face. I dressed up before my mum, my dad and my sister because I was just too excited.

Me and my family got in a taxi and went straight to the temple with our special clothes on. I had that smile on my face, which was weird, until we got there. As we entered the temple, the smell of food got into my nostrils. AHHHHHH! I am so hungry. There, far in the distance my friend waved at me.

After a long hour it was time for lunch, when the communities come together, lots of people came around us and ate food. After we ate a big delicious meal, we started a bonfire. We [Hindus] usually offer coconuts, chick peas and popcorn. We offer these things to thank god for growing our crops.
If god didn’t grow our crops, then we wouldn’t have the ability to feed our families. It was time for colours. The colours represented elements. Green-love because god bought love to the world, Red- power and orang is purity. Purity is given to every person this world and power is strength given by god.

The king tried to kill his son prahlad but Vishnu kept saving him and in the end hiryakashipu was killed by Vishnu.

Lights solution in neighbourhood watc

Dear neighbour watch ,
Thank you for your letter of concern regarding the street lights – that are located in London . We have taken on board you’re your queries and have searched further into this problem [ which is because of the light being dim ] and have discovered multiple things .
To begin with me and my class , 6m, began with a simple , complete and bright circuit but , as use had many differences and continuously expanded  by changing many components ; increasing the amount of bulbs ; increasing the voltage and decreasing …
From the investigation , we have understood , that one 9 voltage battery , has the same amount as 5 one voltage batteries but the problem is , if there is too much power , the filament will explode . In order to prevent the filaments exploding , we had to use either less voltage or more bulbs .
To conclude , we believe , to insure the lights – which are in the streets – stay on while many man-kinds try and steal , you must have high voltage and allot of bulbs .

Your sincerely , 6m’s best pupil – Yousif Shamo .

Yunis- hacker: next chaper

Hacker: Next chapter!
“WHAAAAT!” me and Gib replied puzzled, “Mum are you serious?” It was awkward; all that could be heard was silence. Normally in my house, everyone is loud however now, as emotions overtook us, we were speechless. Was it true? Did dad go to jail? My body started to sweat, my heart pounded thunderously as tears slowly trickled down my face.

“Mum!” I screamed downhearted and disconsolate, “Mum! Did dad really go to jail! Listen to me!” I was heart-broken. I knew that he wouldn’t do something as awful as this; he is a good person. Something mysterious is going on and I need to know it: I need to fix it!
