Year 6’s Sustainable Adventure

Through the past few days, as a whole class we have been learning about palm oil
and some workers from Chester Zoo came to our school to show us what happens when we
don’t buy stuff that has sustainable palm.

A worker named Niara  explained to us that if we didn’t buy stuff that doesn’t have any sustainable palm oil the people who work to cut down the rain forest trees will cut down the trees.
The animals will lose their homes and will be extinct.

When we came to Chester Zoo l was so exited because this was the first time I had seen animals
like bats,elephants,kangaroos and different birds.

I really enjoyed the workshops and the trip because it was the first time I saw animals and I learned that sustainability is important.

Year 6’s Sustainable Palm Oil Ad

Through the last few weeks we as a whole school have been learning about sustainable palm oil and how people have been causing deforestation to plant palm oil trees to get palm oil and make a living. We have also learnt that by doing that people have been destroying animals homes and their habitat. Lots of animals are getting extinct at the cause of deforestation and palm oil trees. They told us that there was a way to solve this problem and the way was to use sustainable palm oil. Sustainable palm oil is a oil that was planted without any deforestation.

We had some workers from Chester Zoo who helped us understand that we could change the word and make it a better place to live. We also learnt a song that Chester Zoo made telling people that people could read the label and make sure that it has sustainable palm oil. By making sure that it has sustainable palm oil you can make the workers in shop buy more sustainable stuff.

We also visited Chester Zoo to see the animals there I really enjoyed the work shop they did when we got there. We saw all different animals they looked all nice and healthy. I would like to thank all Chester Zoo who took soo much care of the animals.  And thank you for the free family tickets that you gave us.

I have learnt that being sustainable is important good luck with the animals and I hope that you encourage more people the way you encouraged us.

The trip to Chester zoo

My class (6c) had rangers from Chester zoo came  in to teach us about sustainable palm oil for 4 weeks . Then we went to the zoo for a visit and to discuss palm oil .

For the first week of the workshops we discussed why people are cutting down the rainforests to plant palm oil plantations. And why rainforests are so important. On the second week we were trying to experience what the animals were like and how being in a rainforest would be like . We asked each other how we can spread the message of using sustainable palm oil . We came up with a song .

Then we went to the zoo and visited all the animals and played a fun game . Over all my favourite animal was the rhinos because they were unique and they had quite a large encounter.

Over all it was a good chance to learn about some of the most fascinating creatures that Rome this earth.

CHESTER ZOO

Our school has being working with Chester zoo by doing a work shop and a trip to tell us to be sustainable.

Every Wednesday, Niara a Chester zoo worker has came to our class to tell us about how important it is to be sustainable because Orangutans and other animals are losing there home because people are using so much palm oil and we need to stop the use of so much palm oil to be sustainable.

On our trip, we met Naira and sore some animals which are losing there homes in Borneo and Sumatra from sustainably and we done a activity

Of being a horn bill bird then after that we had some time to see animals ( I was traumatised by the bats).

Mohammed A best trip to zoo!

 Year 6’s excellent trip

Before we went to Chester zoo we done some workshop to learn some stuff about animals and we learned a ver good song (palm oil conga)Niara was the person that learnt us some stuff about Chester zoo.On Wednesday 5th February we (year 6) went to Chester zoo and we enjoyed watching the animals eating/playing/chasing each other.I was empresses by a animal called orangutang (pool loo the oldest one  and Arga the new born one!)

The second animal I was impressed by was a cheetah and a tiger the tigers where hiding from us under neath us and then out of no where they came up and scared us.We wished we had more time to go see Lions but they moved the Lions somewhere else so then we had to go to a small island to see the tigers and it was COOL! And then we went back to the coach

We had a lot lot of fun I hope you will go to and I joy been there.Read the label and do the palm oil conga!
